Date: 18/12/2023

LASIGE’s researcher Catia Pesquita delivered a keynote at the 42nd International Conference on Conceptual Modeling (ER2023), a CORE A conference, entitled “True or False? The impact of negative knowledge in biomedical artificial intelligence”, held in Lisbon, on November 2023.

In this talk, she discussed the challenges faced by machine learning and artificial intelligence applications over knowledge graphs when the difference between a negative fact and an unknown fact is crucial. The talk further explored what negative knowledge is, why it is important, how it can be harnessed, and what we are missing when we ignore it. The discussion was supported by real use cases in biomedical research and healthcare.
