Date: 13/09/2021

The paper “Emotions Recognition Using EEG Signals: A Survey”, co-authored by Soraia M. Alarcão and Manuel J. Fonseca, and published at IEEE Transactions on Affective Computing (TAC) in 2019, received the TAC Most Cited Paper Award. The paper was selected out of 122 papers published in the issues 10(3) (July 2019) till 12(2) (June 2021) of IEEE Transactions on Affective Computing.

The IEEE TAC is the top journal on affective computing and one of the top journals in human-computer interaction. Its awards for best papers and most cited paper are presented bi-annually at the International Conference on Affective Computing & Intelligent Interaction (ACII).

In the paper, the authors present an exhaustive and systematic analysis of the most relevant works on emotion recognition from EEG signals, published between 2006 and 2016, and a set of best practices recommendations concerning both the applicability and steps that compose an EEG-based Emotion Recognizer.
