The Ada-Europe conference is an international forum for researchers, developers and users of reliable software technologies all over the world, including presentations and discussions that cover applied and theoretical work currently conducted to support the development and maintenance of reliable software systems.

This year the conference took place in Lisbon, organized by LASIGE members António Casimiro, José Rufino, Pedro Ferreira and Nuno Neves. The event was very successful, attracting 98 participants from 21 countries, of which almost 50% from the industry. The conference featured 2 days with 8 tutorials and 2 workshops, and 3 days with technical and industrial presentations, on topics such as “Safety and Security”, “Real-Time Scheduling”, “Ada in Industry”, “Space Systems” and “V&V of Safety-Critical Software”. During the three central days of the conference that was an industrial exhibition, and each day started with a keynote. The keynotes were the following:

  • Security and Dependability Challenges of IT/OT Integration, Paulo Esteves-Veríssimo, University of Luxembourg, Luxembourg
  • From Physicist to Rocket Scientist, and how to make a CubeSat that works, Carl Brandon, Vermont Technical College, USA
  • Vulnerabilities in Safety, Security, and Privacy, Erhard Plödereder, University of Stuttgart, Germany

Along with the technical part, the conference provided many opportunities for participants to interact and socialize, namely during the several 1 hour coffee breaks, the welcome reception and the conference banquet. The welcome reception was on board of a large catamaran that took the participants on a tour in the Tagus river.  The nice weather and the sunset provided wonderful views of the city and the Belém area, which the participants will hardly forget!
