LASIGE’s researchers Rita Sousa, Sara Silva and Cátia Pesquita have successfully published the paper “Supervised biomedical semantic similarity” in IEEE Access, a multidisciplinary, fully open-access journal.
This work addresses the challenge of tailoring aspect-oriented semantic similarity measures to fit a particular view of biological similarity or relatedness. Many bioinformatics applications benefit from using supervised semantic similarity over biomedical knowledge graphs, namely protein-protein interaction prediction, disease-associated genes identification, and drug-drug interaction prediction.
