Sofia Teixeira, LASIGE integrated member, gave an invited talk “The role of network structure and link significance on biological and social outcomes” at Center for Artificial Intelligence (CENTAI), Turin, Italy, September 6, 2022.
Its abstract was about “Networks are a simple and intuitive framework to model evolutionary events, human behavior, the brain, and cognition. In this talk, I will walk you through some modeling, mining, and learning methods on graphs to evaluate how centrality and neighborhood structure can be key to analyzing different complex systems. Examples will include link significance in phylogeny and networked systems, fairness in a multiplayer bargaining game, and using structural balance to analyze peer influence and reconstruct the mindset expressed in multiple suicide notes”.
CENTAI’s ambition is to push the boundaries of applied and foundational research in domains related to Artificial Intelligence and Complex Systems sciences. It aims at innovating beyond the state of the art in these fields, pursuing blue-sky research, and developing trustworthy, fair, green, and sustainable methodologies.
