LASIGE’s paper published at IEEE Access

The paper "Gamification and computer science students’ activity" co-authored by Manuel J. Fonseca and Teresa Chambel, LASIGE integrated researchers, in collaboration with Miguel García-Iruela and Raquel Hijón-Neira (Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, Spain) has been published at IEEE Access, a top-ranked engineering and computer science journal (h-5 index: 119).

The published work describes a four week study to verify if there was an existing relationship between gamification and a possible increase in student activity or between the cessation of gamification and student activity and if a greater student activity corresponded to a greater learning improvement. Experimental results show that there was no clear relationship between the activity and the methodology used, nor between the activity and learning.
