Date: 08/02/2024

LASIGE’s integrated member, Andreia Sofia Teixeira was given a keynote talk “Connected Minds: Navigating the Complexity of Mental Health through the Lens of Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Network Science”, at the Winter Workshop on Complex Systems (WWCS), held in Spain, on January 21-26, 2024.

This talk delved into the imperative task of unraveling the intricate mechanisms behind mental or neurological disorders, and the complexities of interconnected minds, emphasizing the important role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods, Data Science, and Network Science, leveraging data-driven approaches, identifying patterns and relationships that escape traditional analyses.

It underscored the urgency for an integrative and holistic approach to indicators of mental health disorders and discussed how integrating these fields not only enhances our comprehension of mental health but also has the potential to heighten therapeutic strategies, fostering a more personalized and effective approach.

The WWCS is a one-week workshop where young researchers from all over the world come together to work on interdisciplinary projects around complex systems. The primary focus of the workshop is to connect participants from different research disciplines to peers with a shared interest in complex systems while working on novel research projects.
