A team from LASIGE participated in the European Conference on Machine Learning and Principles and Practice of Knowledge Discovery in Databases (ECMLPKDD 2024) from September 9 to 13.
The PhD students Allan Espindola, Miguel G. Silva, Miracle Aniakor, Nuno Dionísio, Samaneh Shafee, and Zygimantas Jasiunas showcased their research through posters in the PhD forum, with team member Allan Espindola giving a presentation titled “Enhancing NIDS Robustness Against Adversarial Evasion Attacks through Model and Feature Diversity.”
Additionally, LASIGE integrated member Pedro Ferreira and PhD students Allan Espindola and Samaneh Shafee contributed to the 6th Workshop on Machine Learning for Cybersecurity (MLCS 2024), co-located with ECMLPKDD.
Allan and Samaneh presented their research on “Enhancing Network Intrusion Detection Systems Against Adversarial Evasion Attacks Using Machine Learning and Model Diversity” and “Evaluation of LLM Chatbots for OSINT-based Cyber Threat Awareness” (Short Paper), respectively.
Pedro Ferreira also played an important role in the workshop as a member of the organising committee.
The team’s participation highlights LASIGE’s growing contributions to cybersecurity and machine learning, demonstrating their dedication to advancing research in these fields.
